Shipper
A shipper is a person or company who contracts with a carrier to transport goods. The shipper is responsible for:
- properly packaging,
- labeling the goods,
- ensuring that they are loaded onto the truck in a safe and efficient manner.
In some cases, the shipper may also be responsible for providing the carrier with all of the necessary documentation, such as manifests and bills of lading. If there are any problems with the shipment, it is typically the shipper’s responsibility to resolve them.
Carriers are typically very strict about who they will do business with, and will often only work with shippers that have a good reputation and a history of properly fulfilling their obligations. This is because carriers can be held liable for any damages or losses that occur during shipment, even if they were not at fault.
If you are looking to ship goods, it is important to find a reputable and reliable shipper that you can trust to get the job done right.
