Dunnage

Dunnage is any material used to protect a product from damage during transport. This can include things like:

  • foam,
  • bubble wrap,
  • paper,
  • or even airbags.

It is important to use the right kind of dunnage for the right product, as some materials are better suited for fragile items while others can more easily protect heavier items.

When packing products for shipment, it is important to take into account not only the weight and fragility of the item but also the conditions that it will be transported in. For example, if an item will be exposed to extreme temperatures or vibration during shipping, then using additional dunnage or different types of dunnage may be necessary to prevent damage. Additionally, the dunnage used should be compatible with the product being shipped. For example, using foam peanuts to ship a liquid product can result in leaks and spills.

Dunnage is an important part of the shipping process and can help to ensure that products arrive at their destination in good condition.
