Several schools in the state offer two-year, four-year and graduate degree programs (and combined programs) in logistics, supply chain management and related fields. Here are a few options for you to consider:
Binghamton University. Located in Vestal, Binghamton University offers a Bachelor’s in Science (BS) in Business Administration with a focus on supply chain management. In addition to core classes, general education classes and electives, students must take four courses and an elective that is specifically geared toward supply chain management. Students who graduate with a BS in business administration can also earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) after an additional year of study.
Clarkson University. At Clarkson, students can earn a degree in Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM) and earn an MBA. The GSCM consists of general education courses, general and specialized business courses and electives. For the MBA, students have the option to fast track and earn it in nine months, or you can take your graduate courses at a slower pace and get your MBA in two years.
The State University of New York at Buffalo. At the University at Buffalo, students have the option of earning a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Operations and Supply Chain Management and an MBA in five years. To complete the program in this timeframe, students must apply to the MBA program no later than their junior year. This program is full-time and consists of 151 credit hours. All courses are taken on campus.
Nassau Community College. If you are interested in earning a two-year degree, Nassau Community College offers an Associate in Science in Business Administration program. This program does prepare students to transfer and continue working toward a four-year business degree. This degree program consists of 63 credit-hours.
Certification Options
Logisticians are not required to hold certification to work in the state, but becoming certified in some regions of logistics or supply chain management can help give you an edge over the competition. Certification can help with career advancement as well as help you to earn more. The American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) is the current organization in which logisticians can earn certification. Their certification options are Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSPC), Certified in Production Inventory Management (CPIM), and Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD).
