Put Away
Put away is the process of removing materials from the dock (or other location of receipt), transporting those materials to a storage area, and then moving them to a specific location within that storage area. This last step often involves recording the movement and identification of the location where the material has been placed.
Put away is an important part of many logistics operations:
- It helps to ensure that materials are properly stored and tracked once they have been received.
- Put away can also help to improve inventory accuracy and prevent stockouts.
While put away is often completed manually, there are some automated put away systems available that can help to speed up the process. These systems typically use barcodes or RFID tags to track materials as they are moved to their final storage location.
