Refrigerated Carriers
Refrigerated carriers are a type of truckload carrier designed to keep perishables good by transporting them under controlled refrigeration. The food industry typically uses this type of carrier.
There are 2 types of refrigerated carriers:
- Reefers use an onboard refrigeration unit.
- Thermo-kings, use an ambient air temperature control system.
Refrigerated carriers must be able to maintain a constant temperature between 0°F and 10°F. They must also have a backup power source in case of power failure.
Refrigerated carriers are used to transport perishable items such as:
- food,
- pharmaceuticals,
- and flowers.
These items need to be kept at a constant temperature to maintain their quality.
