Refrigerated Carriers

Refrigerated carriers are a type of truckload carrier designed to keep perishables good by transporting them under controlled refrigeration. The food industry typically uses this type of carrier.

There are 2 types of refrigerated carriers:

  1. Reefers use an onboard refrigeration unit.
  2. Thermo-kings, use an ambient air temperature control system.

Refrigerated carriers must be able to maintain a constant temperature between 0°F and 10°F. They must also have a backup power source in case of power failure.

Refrigerated carriers are used to transport perishable items such as:

  • food,
  • pharmaceuticals,
  • and flowers.

These items need to be kept at a constant temperature to maintain their quality.

Refrigerated carriers are a vital part of the food supply chain. They help ensure that perishable items are transported safely and arrive at their destination in good condition.
