Short Shipment
When a shipment arrives at its destination and the receiver finds that one or more pieces of freight are missing, this is called a short shipment.
Short shipment can occur for a number of reasons, including:
- incorrect documentation,
- damaged goods,
- or theft.
In some cases, the consignee may be responsible for paying for the missing freight, while in other cases the carrier may be liable.
It is important to carefully check all documentation and inspect the shipment immediately upon arrival to avoid any misunderstandings or delays in receiving the missing freight. If you are the recipient of a short shipment, you will need to file a claim with the shipping company in order to receive compensation for the missing items.
