Flow Rack
A flow rack is a storage method where the product is presented to picking operations at one end of a rack and replenished from the opposite end. Flow Racks are commonly used in high volume order picking operations where the product needs to be quickly and accurately picked and then replenished.
A flow rack made from steel or aluminum typically has a series of rollers or wheels that the product sits on as it flows through the rack. The rollers or wheels are attached to the frame of the rack and are set at a slight incline so that the product can flow down the rack.
By using a flow rack, inventory can be managed more efficiently and effectively which can lead to increased productivity and decreased costs.
