Full Containerload (FCL)

A Full Containerload (FCL) is a shipment that fills an entire cargo container.

  • This option is most cost-effective for shippers who have enough merchandise to fill a container.
  • FCL shipments are also the fastest way to move goods overseas, as they do not have to be consolidated with other shipments.

However, there are some disadvantages to using an FCL:

  • First, it can be expensive to ship a full container, especially if the goods are lightweight or bulky.
  • Second, if there are any problems with the shipment (e.g. damage or delay), it can be difficult to get the goods replaced or refunded.
  • For these reasons, many shippers choose to use less than a full containerload (LCL) instead.

In general, an FCL is the best option for shippers who have a large number of goods to ship and want to save money on shipping costs.
