Container Depot

Container Depot is a facility where empty containers are stored. It is also known as a container yard, container terminal or container station. The depot may be operated by the shipping line that owns the containers, by a freight forwarder, or by a third party logistics provider.

The main purpose of a container depot is to provide storage for empty containers. This allows shipping lines and freight forwarders to optimize their container fleets and ensure that they have enough containers available when they need them. In some cases, the depot may also be used to load and unload containers, or to transfer containers between different modes of transport.

Container depots are located in strategic locations close to ports and freight hubs. This allows freight forwarders and shipping lines to quickly get their containers to where they are needed. The increasing popularity of containerization has led to a rise in the number of container depots around the world.
